Holy stress, Batman!

Today a quote from Rose from Titanic keeps running though my head:
And all the while I feel like...I'm standing in the middle of a crowded room screaming at the top of my lungs and no one even looks up.

I am looking for a new job and finishing out the rest of this term. I had an interview this morning, an interview tomorrow, and will most likely have another later this week. The one today was for Farmers Insurance, which made me want to bolt from the building. The fact that I made it through the entire interview is a testament to my willpower.

At Farmers, you pay for everything to start off. Including your background check. I've never even heard of paying for your own background check before. You then also pay for the two certifications that you need to work there. Then begins a 3 month period where you prove you can get 40 new clients for them in which you're not paid. Then begins a new period where you're partly subsidized. Quoiii? I am surprised any of that is legal. Absolutely not. And I'd never make a full wage; it's all completely commission, which I really don't have an interest in.

My interview tomorrow is with a financial planning firm. If it is commission based as well, which it is likely to be, then I am not going to do it either. I am going to research them tonight.

The best lead that I have right now is for a residential treatment home for people with severe and persistent mental illness. I applied for the 7AM-3PM slot online, stressed that I needed the earlier position in the interview and reminded them that I have evening classes that I am finishing out. I guess somehow that got lost in translation (?). When the manager of the home emailed me and said my tentative start date would be Thursday with no time listed, I asked if it would be the morning shift. She said:
I am working on the new schedule today, so I will let you know how it pans out.  As discussed during the interview, we need staff that are flexible as to shifts/days as we need to schedule for the needs of our clients, not ourselves.
So I really have no idea what's going on. There's another position there that is 2PM-10PM, but that's not the one that I applied for. I am surprised that they hadn't done all the shift switching that employees wanted before listing the position and then doing interviews for it. If they're able to give me the time slot that I need, then I'll accept it. It's in my field, will look good on my resume for grad school, and it's something that I have an interest in. If they're only able to offer me the evening slot, I can't take it. I think she wants availability from staff from 7AM-10PM each day, which I don't think is realistic. I said I could cover the swing shift if someone is sick or goes on vacation, but for working normally I would want the one I applied for.

I find out tomorrow at a team meeting if I get that position. So I'm in limbo with that. In the mean time I am worried about what to do job wise. Apply for placeholder jobs? Or wait until I am out of school in 3.5 weeks and try for stuff in my field? I am also stressing about a stats midterm that I have tomorrow, and I feel like I don't know the material. My laptop just broke, so I gave it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they had to send it to their center, so it'll be 2-3 weeks before I get it back, and they have no idea yet if they can even fix it.

I am not sleeping well with everything so up in the air. Last night and the night before were less than stellar sleep wise. Tonight Robert and I are going to talk about what to do job wise (placeholder jobs vs. waiting until I graduate, etc.) so that'll alleviate some of my stress. Tomorrow I'll find out about the residential treatment job, so at least I'll know one way or another, and that stress will be gone. Ideally, I'll get the early position and then I'll have a job in my field, it'll work school wise and I can just focus on school for the rest of the term in my off time rather than apps and interviews.

Hoping I hear good news manana!
