6 Month Anniversary

Tomorrow is Robert and my 6 month anniversary. On one hand, it seems like we've been together much longer (in a good way) and then on the other hand it seems like the 6 month mark has come so quickly! When we became official and had been together a few months I put our 6 month mark in my planner not entirely sure if we'd make it until then. Not like I had any feelings of foreboding or whatnot, but because you never know what's going to happen. Now we're here, and it's flown by. I love spending time with Robert no matter what we're doing. He's totally "the one". :)

We both have to work tomorrow, and then in the evening he got us reservations at Portobello (website here and twitter here) , which neither of us have been to. I've heard good things about it. When I looked online for a menu, this was listed:

The menu changes almost every night, due to seasonal availability and what comes our way. 

Very Portland/hipster/eco-friendly. I love it. haha. I'm looking forward to seeing how it is and getting dressed up to go out together. Next we'll be celebrating a year together! Time sure does fly, especially when you're having fun (as the old saying goes).

New Apartment/Black Mold

If you're on my Twitter or fb, you've heard by now that we got the apartment! I am SO excited!

We move in this Saturday, so tomorrow and Friday are going to be taken up with packing. I have gotten most of my books done, actually, and all of my movies. I just need to do the rest of my closet and the kitchen and then it's pretty much done. I don't think that it'll be a hassle to move, since I don't really have any big things. Daniel (who tweets here) is going to help Robert and myself move. I'm also going to ask a few other friends to see if they can lend a hand.

The new apartment that we're moving into is so nice! Hardwood floors in both bathrooms, a washer/dryer, a pool, a 24HR workout center, nice carpet, updated appliances, great location... I don't have any complaints about it! Quite the opposite in fact! It also comes with a little storage unit, which is great. Plus we have the second bedroom that will be used for storage and for Robert's desk/office area. I have office supplies to put there too. That's where the computer will go as well, even though I'm sure our laptops won't live in that room. I usually have mine on the couch or bed.

Another bonus of moving? Getting out of Sir Charles Court. The staff were nice enough, but the rent was raised a lot each time we resigned the lease. The windows were also single paned, so it was cold in my bedroom and there was black mold everywhere. Even though I ran the fan in my bathroom constantly, didn't open my bathroom door during showers and followed basic procedures for helping with keeping it at bay, this apt was HORRIBLE for black mold. I had to bleach down my windows every 1.5 weeks and mold grew in every corner of the room. If I didn't pull stuff out and bleach the walls, stuff would just rot.  I ended up having to throw away literally bags of clothing because I didn't realize that by touching the walls they'd mold over. I took a photo of the corner of my bedroom before I bleached it down the other day, which I'll attach.

I complained at the office and they just gave me a paper handout with such gems as "dry your towels immediately after use" and "dry your dishes". It's actually shocking to me that I haven't gotten sick from the mold spores. After throwing away hundreds of dollars worth of clothing, using enough bleach to kill a small animal and constantly battling it, I'm so relieved to be done at these apts. All I can say is:  good riddance! 

Comic Conventions

Looks like I won't be going to the Portland Comic Con. I had just heard of it a few days ago when a coworker told me about it. She mentioned it because I was telling her about wanting to attend the Seattle convention in March. 

I got all a-flutter with the notion of going to see Star Wars royalty Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams up in Seattle, so of course was going to jump on the chance of a convention here in my own town. Plus it's been on my bucket list to attend a convention.

Unfortunately that convention falls on a weekend when the beau and I are going to the coast for my birthday. The convention is the 22nd-24th, and we are at the coast the 23rd and 24th. On Friday the 22nd, my birthday, I'll be working until 4:30PM. Ideally I could have swung over to the convention after, but I found out that they are charging an extra fee for a picture with celebrities.

James Marsters and Juliet Landau (Spike and Drusilla off 'Buffy', respectively) were both going to be there. I definitely wanted a photo, but it's $90 for a picture with the two of them! I can not justify spending $30 to get in the door and then $90 for the photo, especially considering they aren't A-list celebrities.  I wouldn't pay that no matter who it was. For just a photo? That's ridiculous.

I think that I am just going to stick with the Seattle Comic Con. I've heard that Fisher and Williams don't do photos with people, but it would be awesome to get a personalized autograph. I do want to go and see a comic convention anyway, so even if I didn't get to meet anyone famous, it would be something to check off my list. Plus I'd be there with R, so we'd have a fun time no matter what. And a trip to Seattle would be fun. I have friends we can stay with, and we can go to Pikes Place and do all the touristy stuff.
