I'm excited to start this. I think it's going to help me be more conscious about what I am taking into my body and eat healthier in general. Plus I am trying to make more food at home recently so this will help with that.
Speaking of making more food at home, I am going to go buy a wok later today so that I can have round deux of making Thai pineapple fried rice. It was very vapid, but I believe that is because of how I prepared it. The last time I prepared everything separately since I didnt have a big enough pan and then added it into a bowl but thats not what the instructions call for.
I think this will be a good endeavor to get me thinking more about how healthy my food is for me and give me something new to try at home. Im hoping it goes well!
I am also starting:
- No alcohol [except on my vacations to NYC and Las Vegas]
- No eating out on my own or getting to-go food on my own
- No eating after 8pm
- No desserts
- No coffee or frappuccinos
- No soda [including diet]
- Trying to eat every 2-3 hours
I gave up meat 3 years ago for the same reasons, essentially. I wanted a change in my diet, I wanted to be more aware of what I was eating, and I wanted to try and find healthier alternatives. I started eating meat again this year after 2+ years as a veg.
ReplyDeleteIt was not easy. It made me consider the entire menu when eating out and home cooking was different too. It was a good change, though, helped me lose a few extra pounds and focused my attention on where protein was coming from and how to make sure I got enough to support my lifestyle. I am glad I did it. I might do it again someday.
Good luck!
Sounds like a good plan! I think eating out is a big deal....curbing unhealthy snacks too. I try to always keep good stuff on hand..I am a snacker..I just have to have something. But i tend to eat lots of small meals too....only one semi large one and that's dinner.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
I do know a vegetarian though who is extremely overweight and has developed diabetes...so being a vegetarian is not necessarily healthier. There are plenty of lean meats like chicken, turkey, and pork in addition to fish :)
As a vegetarian, I obviously support this! You've obviously done your research and I think you're going to notice the difference. :) Keep us updated on how it goes!
ReplyDeleteAs for the other things you're giving up...yeah good luck with that!
That's awesome Konrad!!! Good luck! I know you can do it! :)
ReplyDeleteDo any of you practice veganism?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. I have been vegetarian for just about 10 years. We also eat a macrobiotic diet ( among other things, no white flour). I definitely feel healthier, and "cleaner".
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you.
I'm usually very careful with food. It's like one of my biggest fears is to get fat (how shallow is that?).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I won't forget to visit your blog again.

I'm happy you're trying to go veggie. It's a good thing! I'm vegetarian for more than 5 years now.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
